MY THOUGHTS OF THE ELECTION AND OF "44"
I think I am finally ready to express my emotions and thoughts regarding this historic election.
Tuesday night, (election night-NOV 4)
I was hoping for the best ,yet prepared (emotionally) for the worst. I must admit I voted for the guy, yet, still,
I had serious doubts about him winning. I was basing this on my own life experiences but I was committed to voting for
him for president. Especially after he became the Democratic nominee, how many times in my life will I have to vote
for a Candidate of color, win or lose.
7pm/Polls close ,results coming in !
At first I was worried. I moved from the main living room ,to go to the gaming room which is on the other side of
the house , to watch the election. (in case I throw a big ass tantrum if we lose.) The southern states came in first and
John McCain was ahead in the electoral college. I think he was twice as far ahead as Obama. Winning Kentucky and south
carolina and georgia & oklahoma whatever. I was waiting to hear the other states, and after about half an hour of hearing
how McCain was winning most of the south, Then,, HE LOST PENNSYLVANIA ! Virginia was too close to call , North Carolina
was also too close. He lost Pennsylvania by a big margin, and I thought , this is a sign of a blowout. but We'll wait till the next
polls come in.
8Pm /polls.
McCain loses Ohio ! Its over ! They didnt call it Immediately but I remember his campaign manager saying on Fox news
that if McCain loses Ohio , It is over! I was confident and yelling its over in the gameoom, I then left the room and headed into the main living room (with the rest of the family) saying its over ! He cannot win ! the polls were right, hes
gonna get owned big time ! As more state polls closed I was giddy knowing that the inevitable was coming.
AT 10:20 PM CNN projected Barack Obama the President Elect! It was sudden and dramatic and I was instantly airborne !
hopping and jumping, after about 30 seconds, it hit me, FOR REAL ! I stopped and just stood there watching while CNNs Wolf Blitzer droned on about the details and statistics. It was like being transported to a Sci-fi movie , A star trek episode
where ppl of color are not judged by race but by their character and abilities.
Remember that movie Deep Impact , a sci-fi thriller about a giant meteor that hits the earth, that had morgan Freeman as the President. When I watched that movie , I thought to myself , Hmmph, only in Science Fiction shows are black ppl treated equally. NO LONGER ! THAT TIME IS NOW ! Now we have an real example of excellence and inspiration in the highest level of Us government! WoW , They were debating in the news last year, is america ready for african american
president. Most doubted it , and now this, no debate, He just did it !
I picked up the phone and called my parents and then they show ( on CNN) Jesse Jackson Sr. crying , I mean streaming tears yall.
As soon as my dad answered I got all teary eyed and started crying. I told them I was so happy, I could hardly speak.
I was proud of Barack for Making it. They were happy too . The tears actually didnt last long, but the feeling of Admiration and american pride, and a feeling of sheer amazement in anticipation for the next year of his presidency, listening to his state of the union addresses, and presidential speeches. Seeing a family of color in the white house. I stand amazed.
Thats just how dead set I was in accepting the majorities racist attitudes. But election night , I was proven wrong and change happened.
Now you know my feeling about this historic election. You can post You reaction or replys in this forum. or just enjoy my gallery and blogs. I'll add more videos and stuff to this fan forum in the future. thanx for visiting.
